Celebrate All the Big & Little Things in Life - Plus a Special Celebration with Brent Carl Fleshman

Posted by Kate Spears on

Oprah Winfrey once said "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more you have in life to celebrate." A search of the word "celebration" on the PBS Parents website returns more than 700 results! That's why, on this week's Get Ready To Learn radio show, we're talking about celebrations.

Every new day brings something to celebrate. Whether it's a small or large personal victory, or something that the entire community can take part in, looking for opportunities for celebration is a great way to teach your kids empathy and teambuilding. Plus, it helps them look for the good in all situations and be more well-rounded, positive people.

Holiday Insights is a great website to visit when looking for things to celebrate in your every day life. The month of September, for example, is designated for a wide variety of different observances, including Classical Music Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Self Improvement Month and National Courtesy Month.

Any one of these offers lots of creative opportunities for you to incorporate celebrations into your daily activities. These celebrations can serve as great teachable moments to share with your family more about being a better citizen.

Something we celebrate here at WCTE is the chance we have to work with so many incredible community members and partners. With our Community Collaboratives for Early Learning Media, we have the chance to directly impact the lives of young learners in the Upper Cumberland and we're so grateful for this opportunity.

Another incredible opportunity we've had is to do the Get Ready To Learn radio show, on Cookeville's Newstalk leader 107.7 FM and 1400 The Hub. It wouldn't have been possible without the vision and generous spirit of Brent Carl Fleshman, whose show airs on Newstalk 107.7 FM and The Hub mornings from 6-8 a.m.

We are celebrating along with Brent his recent honor of receiving a Marconi Radio Award.

On September 22, 2016, at Nashville's Omni Hotel, broadcasting leaders, programmers, on air talent and members of the press recognized stations and individuals for their excellence and performance in radio.

Established by the National Association of Broadcasters in 1989, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are named after Nobel Prize winner and “Father of Wireless Telegraphy” Guglielmo Marconi.

The radio stations and personalities that were honored were selected by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy, which is made up of general managers, program directors, regional executives, owners, programming consultants and former radio executives from across the country.

A HUGE congratulations to Brent Carl Fleshman for being named "SMALL MARKET PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR!" We are celebrating for sure!

Tune in each Saturday morning at 9:30 for the WCTE Get Ready To Learn Radio Show, with host Cindy Putman on Zimmer Broadcasting's The HUB 107.7 FM and 1400 AM.
