Spotlight on 2017 Eclipse Events in the Upper Cumberland

On this week's Get Ready To Learn Radio show, WCTE and Putnam County Schools Ready To Learn Project manager host Cindy Putman is joined by a special friend. Putman's special guest co-host is Putnam County Library's Chelsea Gifford, who is also a Community Collaboratives Early Learning Media member. Gifford is the Children's librarian at the Putnam County Library.
 
What you might not know is that there are all sorts of really great events coming up in the Upper Cumberland for families to learn about and enjoy the Solar Eclipse taking place on August 21st!
 
Gifford extends this invitation from the children's library staff: We hope you’ll  join us here at the library and throughout the community to celebrate this once in a lifetime event!

Eclipses Explained - Tues., Aug. 8th at 4 p.m.
Location: Downstairs Meeting Room at the Putnam County Library
 
Join us as TTU professors, Dr. Mary Kidd and Dr. Stephen Robinson, will provide information to families about the upcoming eclipse and the science behind them. 
 
Stick around after the session to receive a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses. 
 
Story Time with Mrs. Donovan - Aug. 15-17th at 10 a.m. 
Location: Children's Library at Putnam County Library
 
Join us during this special story time week where Mrs. Donovan will share eclipse stories from around the world! 
 
Stick around after for preschool crafts in the children's library at 10:30 a.m. 
 
Eclipses Explained - Sat. Aug. 19th at 10:30 a.m.
Location: Downstairs Meeting Room at the Putnam County Library
 
Join us as TTU professors, Dr. Mary Kidd and Dr. Stephen Robinson, will provide information to families about the upcoming eclipse and the science behind them. These eclipse sessions for families will also include NASA certified experts. 
 
Stick around after the session to meet and greet with Jet Propulsion from PBS KIDS show Ready Jet Go! and to receive a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses (while supplies last)! 
 
 
WCTE is also participating in a few other special events, in addition to those we're partnering with the Putnam County Library on.
