Spotlight on Roadtrip Nation with Dr. Hannah Rawiszer

Posted by Kate Spears on

Check out this week’s WCTE Get Ready To Learn radio show as Host and Ready To Learn project manager Cynthia Putman is joined by Dr. Hannah Rawiszer, Director of Education and Community Engagement at WCTE.

Hannah came to WCTE in October 2014, in the role of Executive Assistant to the CEO and Special Projects. Born in NY state, Hannah grew up in Florida from about age 9 to 22, and has lived in Tennessee for nearly 20 years! She has a BA in English/German from FSU ('98) and an MA Secondary Ed from TTU ('08). She also has a PhD in Exceptional Learning/Literacy from TTU (2014). She worked in education for over 12 years as a secondary and higher education teacher teaching German for the Cumberland County School System (2002-2008), and a Grad/Research Assistant in the College of Ed TTU (2008-2014).

Hannah says one of her favorite parts about being at WCTE is the community events. She loves that WCTE brings not only educational events, but also fun/social activities to Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland region. Stations of Imagination at Fall Fun Fest was a favorite of hers! Hannah practices yoga, loves hiking, eating, traveling, and reading to name a few.

In her current position as Director of Education and Community Engagement, Hannah oversees all education projects and outreach including community events and programs throughout the Upper Cumberland region.

Putman and Rawiszer discussed the Road Trip Nation Initiative that Hannah is doing at WCTE with a grant from New York Life and the support of  Andrea V. Burckhard, LUTCF Agent, New York Life Insurance Company.

Andrea V. Burckhard, LUTCF, Agent with New York Life Insurance Company, owns and operates her own practice and has since 2007 serviced the Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky markets.

Rawiszer discussed her work with 7th and 8th graders at 3 local middle schools during the LEAPS program using the Road Trip Nation Curriculum. This program will finish in May and Rawiszer believes that the students have discovered skills and career options as they have worked through the on-line curriculum.
