Corey Mac to Sing the Blues at Blues & Brews Craft Beer Festival
Last Updated by
Featuring craft beer, blues music, and community fellowship, WCTE’s 2nd annual Blues & Brews Craft Beer Festival will take place in Cookeville’s Dogwood Park on Saturday, October 17. This event will run from 12-5 p.m., featuring samplings of over 60 craft brews from across the country. A variety of craft beers will be provided by Budweiser of Cookeville, Mid-South Distributing Co., Yazoo, Bounty Bev, Sparta-based Calfkiller Brewing Company, and the Home brewers Association. Attendees will receive a commemorative tasting glass to sample beers all day, and local food vendors will be selling their specialties on site. The Dogwood Performance Pavilion will feature an energetic mix of the blues to accompany the afternoon’s festivities.
At 1:30 p.m., Little Johnny Kantreed will perform a version of his ‘down and dirty Delta blues’ on one of his signature handmade LJK Cigar Box Guitars, which will then be auctioned during the Blues & Brews silent auction. Headlining the Blues & Brews stage at 2 p.m. will be Corey Mac of Nashville. A true blues man at heart, Corey Mac has been making a name for himself on the Nashville music scene for close to a decade. During that time, he has managed to hone his craft, sharing the stage with some of the greatest blues artists to ever breeze through Music City. Corey Mac has had the honor and privilege to play alongside such world-renowned performers as Bobby Bradford, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Jerry Preston (bass for Maceo Parker), Kenny Neal, Roguie Ray Lamontagne (legendary country/blues harmonica player), Jack Pearson (of the Allman Brothers), Reese Wynans (keys/organ for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble), Nick Nickson, Stacy Mitchhart, Waldo Weathers (sax man for James Brown), and Jelly Bean Johnson (of Morris Day and The Time), just to name a few. In only a few short years, Corey Mac has managed to become a household name synonymous with the Blues in Nashville.
Blues & Brews is a 21+ event, and ticket sales benefit WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS. A ‘Stein Social’ for VIP ticket holders will kick off the event at 11 a.m., followed by general admission at noon. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit wcte.org/brews.
