Run For Your Mama Kicks Off ‘Run the Cumberland’ May 7
WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS will hold the 5th annual Run For Your Mama Double Pump 5K on Saturday, May 7 in Cookeville. The event includes both a 5K Road Race, beginning at Dogwood Park at 7 a.m., and a 5K Trail Run, taking place on the Cookeville High School Cross Country Trail at 10 a.m. Proceeds from this year’s Run For Your Mama benefit WCTE Education & Community Engagement projects.
Participants should register for the race online by May 1 (or turn in paper registration by Friday, April 29) in order to be guaranteed a race shirt. This year, children age 10 and under can register at a discounted rate of $10. Awards will be given to overall male and female winners, the top three winners in each age division, and to 10K finishers.
Run For Your Mama is the first race in the Run the Cumberland medal series; other races include The After Dark Race for the Park on August 5, Fall Fun Run on September 10, and Upper Cumberland Haunted Half Marathon on October 15. Runners who participate in all four races will receive an exclusive Run the Cumberland medal after completing the Haunted Half in October. The Run the Cumberland race series is sponsored by Healthier Tennessee.
PBS Kids walkaround character, Wyatt from Super Why!,will make appearances at the Dogwood Park race village (performance pavilion side) between 6:30-9:00 a.m. on race day. The public is invited to come out that morning to meet and take photos with Wyatt.
