WCTE’s original documentary titled Growing Education: Getting Back on Track premieres Thursday, March 31 at 7 p.m..  Getting Back on Track is the seventh episode of WCTE's eight-part documentary series Growing Education that explores cradle-to-career education in the Upper Cumberland. The documentary is part of WCTE's American Graduate project, a public media initiative funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to support community-based solutions to the national dropout crisis.

Getting Back on Track visits the challenges and opportunities for adults who have not earned their high school diploma, or adults who have their high school diploma but dropped out of college before earning their degree.  The segment focuses on how we re-engage adult students in the Upper Cumberland, including such organizations as Putnam County's Adult Learning Center and the newly established Upper Cumberland Tennessee Reconnect Center, which provides support and advice for adults who began their post-secondary education but did not finish. This show will look at both services and other opportunities for adult learners to ‘get back on track’ with their education.

"When it comes to education, life often gets in the way of us reaching our goals. This episode of Growing Education focuses on helping people receive a high school equivalency diploma or returning to college to complete their degree.  Our region offers a number of opportunities to help people achieve these dreams."

WCTE is found on Charter cable channel 8 and DISH and DirecTV channel 22. For more information on this initiative, visit wcte.org/amgrad.
