WCTE Program Growing Education: Branching Out Premieres Nov. 26

Branching Out, the fifth episode in WCTE’s original documentary series titled Growing Education,will premiere on Thursday, November 26at 7 p.m. CDT, with additional airings on December 6 at 11 a.m., December 13 at 12:30 p.m., and December 20 at 4:30 p.m. This series on ‘cradle to career’ education is part of American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen, a public media initiative supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to address the national dropout crisis.
Branching Outwill focus on the 8th-12th grade school years and issues facing students, putting them at risk of not graduating on time. There is also a focus on how to build career paths for students, starting as early as 8th grade. WCTE interviews Upper Cumberland high school students, as well as educators and community members, on this topic. Lee Wray, WCTE American Graduate Project Manager, shares, “We hope parents and caregivers are learning from this Growing Education series. We’re so thankful to the Putnam County School System and other partners and community members who continue to contribute to this effort.”
