WCTE Receives Community Impact Grant from New York Life
WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS was recently awarded a $10,000 Community Impact Grant from New York Life. The grant will support a career exploration program for area 8th graders, using the PBS Road Trip Nation program and curriculum.
“We are grateful for New York Life’s investment in our new program, Career Village: Pathways to Exploration, which we hope will change many young lives for the better,” said Lee Wray, WCTE American Graduate Project Manager. “Without the support from New York Life, we wouldn’t be able to reach all of these young adults.”
“I’m proud to work for a company that encourages its agents and employees to devote their time, energy, and talents to support the needs and priorities of their local community,” said Andrea Burckhard, an agent associated with the company’s Knoxville General Office and the person responsible for nominating WCTE to receive the grant. “We are pleased that our partnership will have a long-lasting impact on WCTE and the population they serve.”
The Community Impact Grant program awards grants of up to $25,000 to local nonprofit organizations which are championed by New York Life agents and employees to serve the needs of their local communities. Since the program’s inception in 2008, 387 grants totaling more than $5 million have been awarded to nonprofits across the country.
