WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS is governed by a board of directors known as the Upper Cumberland Broadcast Council (UCBC). New members in 2016 include Jerry Boyd, Diana Baranowski, and Mario Morales. These members officially joined the WCTE board in February.
Jerry Boyd, Putnam County Director of Schools, is serving on the UCBC for the first time. Boyd shared, “WCTE is an essential partner in our efforts at the Putnam County School System (PCSS) to ensure that all students are engaged in high-quality learning opportunities from the time of their birth to the point in their life that they pursue their post-secondary passions. Serving as a Board member on the Upper Cumberland Broadcast Council is a distinct honor that I value greatly in my role as the Superintendent of the Putnam County School System. Having the opportunity to serve alongside my fellow board members to support the work of the WCTE team positively impacts my ability to focus on best serving students, families, and educators in Putnam County and across the Upper Cumberland region.”
Mario Morales, Owner-Designer of Blend Home Furnishings, is also a first-time member of the UCBC. He enthused, “I am excited to be a part of charting an exciting new future at WCTE, by bridging new opportunities in marketing, networking and successful partnerships with its viewers and sponsors, as well as working together with an incredible team of board members that share a vision for a promising future.”
Diana Baranowski has a long history of serving WCTE, both on the UCBC Executive Board and Community Advisory Board. “My family has been enthusiastic supporters for over 30 years, beginning with the first Great TV Auction. I'm looking forward to taking on a leadership role as a board member to help with the future growth of the station,” she shared.
Other Upper Cumberland Broadcast Council members include Jere Hargrove, Tom Janney, Andrea Burckhard, Joe Albrecht, Dr. Kathy Bertram, Marc Burnett, Michael Galligan, Dr. Wali Kharif, Nina Lunn, Jack Stites, and Kelly Swallows. "I'm thrilled with our Upper Cumberland Broadcast Council and the strong leadership they bring in so many areas of service,” says Becky Magura, WCTE President & CEO. “WCTE's work in education, community engagement, public safety and locally produced content allows us to be a vital partner in the Upper Cumberland. I'm so excited to have Jerry Boyd and Mario Morales as new trustees and also to have Diana Baranowski return to the board as a veteran member and also most recently serving as a member of our Community Advisory Board."
