WCTE’s Director of Education and Community Engagement, Dr. Hannah Rawiszer and Cindy Putman, WCTE’s Ready To Learn Project Manager, attended the National Educational Telecommunication Association (NETA) conference in late September, 2016.

During a Community Engagement Council meeting at the conference, they shared with members and conference attendees about WCTE’s unique partnership with Zimmer Broadcasting that promotes WCTE and our Ready To Learn work via two 30-minute radio shows: “WCTE PBS: On the Radio”, hosted by Hannah Rawiszer and “WCTE's Get Ready To Learn with Cindy Putman.” Hannah Rawiszer and Cindy Putman discussed how WCTE established the partnership with Zimmer Broadcasting, how the format for both shows was established, and why WCTE and Zimmer Broadcasting are collaborating to attract a new audience of listeners. “The Community Engagement Council of NETA is comprised of individuals from PBS stations across the country who are doing significant work in community engagement and outreach,” says Dr. Rawiszer. “WCTE is honored to be included with this group of outstanding leaders in public media.”

“WCTE PBS: On the Radio” provides listeners with information about upcoming WCTE events and programming. “Get Ready To Learn with Cindy Putman” features a weekly co-host who discusses a topic of interest to educators, parents, caregivers, and children. The weekly topics are promoted in engaging ways on WCTE’s website at wcte.org/rtl.

WCTE and Zimmer Broadcasting are committed to serving the community. The collaborative nature of the radio shows is to engage guests who have local ties to programming and education topics. WCTE is on News Talk 1400 WHUB and 107.7 FM every Saturday morning at 9 a.m.Be sure to follow the WCTE Facebook page for updates on upcoming events and programming.
