ART a la carte Presents Watercolor and Poetry, New Work by Robin Smith

Friday, Aug 17th - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

ART à la carte is pleased to present Robin Nelsen Smith's Watercolor Paintings and Poetry. A reception will take place at ART à la carte, on Friday, August 17th from 6-8pm. An artist and poet who works from her studio in Doyle, Tennessee, Robin recently moved from Minnesota to join her husband, award winning author, historian and Tennessee native Troy D. Smith. Robin has been a juror of many Fine Arts fairs, a former artist with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Arts Exhibit, two-time president of the MN Arrowhead Arts Club, and served on the Board of Directors of the Artists of MN. Beautiful ink drawings and watercolor collage works by Robin are in private collections throughout the US and abroad. Her moving poetry has been published nationwide, including anthologies published in New Hampshire, Texas and New York. Her book entitled This Life Inside, published by Red Mystic Press, will also be available. When traveling or working in the field, Robin takes photographs, makes freeform writings, ink drawings or small washes to be used later and reworked in the studio, often several times and over the course of months. “Setting a goal of finishing a painting or poem on location never crosses my mind. In fact, the adventure just begins in the field. When I return to the studio, these wide-eyed observations and photographs are the tools I reshape into new visual adventures where the environment of the paper or canvas is now the world to explore.” Meet Robin and experience her art on Friday, August 17th, from 6-8pm at ART à la carte, 121 W Broad St, Cookeville, TN 38501.
