This year the Genealogy Festival will feature the following:
- Family Booths
- Costumed Storytellers
- Beginning Genealogy Classes (Friday afternoon)
- Libraries and Research Facilities including TSLA and Family Search (LDS)
- Historical and Genealogical Organizations
Other events are being scheduled for this weekend too. The sixth anniversary of Sutton General Store and the Sutton Ole Time Music Hour will be celebrated with live music beginning at 3:00PM. If you plan to stay for the Sutton Ole Time Music Hour consider making your reservations early. Members of the press are being invited to Historic Granville for Media Day for this special day too.
Make time to socialize with everyone at the festival. Exchange information about your research and exchange contact information for follow-up later.
Internet access is now available at the Sutton Store, the Granville Museum and the area outside the Sutton Store where booths will be setup for the Genealogy Festival.
The Genealogy Festival will open at 9:00AM on Saturday, April 5th. The booths can be dismantled at 4:00PM on Saturday so you can enjoy all the other events that will be taking place that evening. If you have a good extension cord, you might want to bring it.
Research in the Granville Museum
A new database is available on-line to assist researchers in the Granville Museum. Over 120 notebooks of family material have been donated to the Museum over the years but searching all those notebooks could be a formidable task. An index is now available at http://granvilletn.com/genealogy-database to search for surnames across all the notebooks. Thanks to Ellen Deavers, Chris Neely, and Robbie Adcock for all the research and data entry.
An information booth will be available during the festival. Please direct visitors to the Information Booth if you don’t know the answer.
To reserve a booth, please email Carter Harris (firstname.lastname@example.org).
