The Claire Lynch Band

Acoustic / Bluegrass / Americana

Claire is recognized as a creative force in bluegrass music and at the forefront of women who have expanded the bluegrass genre. Claire Lynch, Mark Schatz, Jim Hurst and Jason Thomas perform at the Jammin at Hippie Jack’s Americana Music Festival in Overton County, TN.
Claire Lynch’s sweetly pure voice has always been in high demand. Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Ralph Stanley and Emmylou Harris (among others) have called on her to sing on their records, while Lynch’s original songs have been covered by A-list folks in the acoustic world. But it’s Claire Lynch leading her own band that garners the most accolades – including 2 Grammy nominations, countless specialized awards and other nominations - along with reverent standing ovations for her shows at prestigious music festivals and theaters. She has long been recognized as a creative force in bluegrass music and at the forefront of women who have expanded the bluegrass genre. Her most recent release, Whatcha Gonna Do, on Rounder records, takes her in a new direction with innovative and more contemporary-bent acoustic arrangements. Her band is a tight meld of some of the best in the business- Jim Hurst throws out impossible leads effortlessly, and the band is grounded by bassist Mark Schatz's deft touch and masterful instinct for groove. Toronto native Jason Thomas brings monster chops on fiddle and mandolin, supported by remarkable musical versatility and imagination that have made him instantly at home in one of the greatest bluegrass bands currently on the scene. All award-winning bluegrass and acoustic stars in their own right.
