#101 Sylvia Hyman: Trompe L’oeil Clay Artist
Nashville resident, Sylvia Hyman, was in her forties when she began working in clay and soon became internationally known. Now decades later, she continues to create incredible works of art as a Trompe L’oeil Clay Master. This French phrase means “to fool the eye” and refers to the technique in clay sculptures that renders them so realistic that they are often mistaken for the real object rather than one created entirely of clay. One on One visits with Ms. Hyman in her home and studio as she shares both her thoughts and works of art.
