“Hey It’s Friday…let’s go out!” That’s what my friends say…that’s what your friends say… now we have just the place for you to be. The third annual WCTE Blues and Brews is set for Friday, October 9, and this year promises to be the best ever!
You’ll have incredible food from local restaurants paired with high-quality craft beers served in the glow of the hottest blues and Americana music in town. It will be a night not to be missed and one you’ll always remember.
I’m writing this because I wanted to have an opportunity to share with you just how excited I am about this evening. We’ve tried to get vocal sensation Jonell Mosser to headline our event for years now, and it seems that “third time’s a charm.” That’s right…on October 9 you’ll be caught in the spell of this world-class vocalist and powerhouse performer at Blues and Brews, along with several other incredible musicians who will fill out this fantastic evening.
Jonell Mosser performs "Good Thing" live at WPLN, Nashville, TN.
For over two decades, this Kentucky native has been one of the brightest lights on the Nashville music scene and a reliable fixture in the city’s clubs, concert halls and recording studios. Personally, I’ve followed Jonell’s career for over a decade. She’s the kind of performer who finds that place in your soul and just moves in. I’ve listened to her music on the feature film “Boys on the Side” and have experienced her live performances at Nashville’s Third and Lindsley, the Blue Bird Café, and on the main stage as the headliner at Cookeville’s Fall Fun Fest.
As an avid fan of public television, this will not be Jonell’s first time to visit WCTE, as she was on the Heart and Soul series several years ago. She shares our beliefs and loves being part of a community that values quality of life, which is why we all live in the Upper Cumberland.
Tickets are limited so call me today at 931-528-2222, ext. 211. I want to make sure that you are with us on this magical night. Of course, Jonell is just one piece of this evening that brings incredible support to the mission of WCTE. We are also excited about our other performers, Warren Gently and Spoonful.
Warren will be returning to the Blues and Brews stage to woo the audience with his classic resonator guitar and other work. “I had a great time when I played Blues and Brews and am looking forward to seeing all of the great people coming out to support WCTE…looking forward to seeing Spoonful, Jonell and you, Becky," Warren said recently.
Spoonful warmed up the Saturday lineup at the 2009 Fall Fun Fest to an audience begging for more. This trio made up of Danny Birdwell, Greg Ford, and Richard Crabtree features more of a Chicago or Texas style blues. They refer to themselves as a “power trio really stripped down,” influenced by Buddy Guy, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Waters and more musicians in Delta style. They are as excited as we are about Blues and Brews.
If the music alone isn’t enough, how about the brews and food? Once again we’ll have featured restaurants Taiko, House of Thai, Thomas Andrews, Maddux Station, Spankies, Vinnie T’s, The Men of Saint Michael’s, Crawdaddy’s and many more coming in as we get ready for the event.
Their special dishes will be paired with frosty, cold brews from SEC Enterprises, such as Samuel Adams, Blue Moon, Sapporo, & Guinness, just to name a few of the dozens selected, and we’re pumped that Yazoo Brewery out of Nashville will be with us featuring three of their signature beers.
So are you hooked yet? If you are looking for one more thing to make you plan on putting all else aside and be at Blues and Brews this year, then how about that we’ll be back at Southern Hills Golf and Country Club in the main club house with indoor and outdoor seating?
I want you with me at Blues and Brews this year! Tickets are limited, so I need to hear from you now before we sell out. The hottest Friday in October is just days away. You’ll experience great music, great food, and the best beverages in town, all while knowing that the cost of your ticket is going to bring great programming to WCTE.
