108TH TENNESSEE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

108TH TENNESSEE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Episode Title:
Final Week concludes Thursday

WCTE, along with Tennessee’s other five public television stations, will air gavel-to-gavel coverage of the Tennessee General Assembly. Sessions, which began on Tue., Jan. 14, will air on WORLD [Ch. 22.2] Monday through Thursday throughout the legislative session.

The coverage, which is in partnership with the Tennessee General Assembly, offers citizens a chance to witness their elected representatives in action. In addition to floor sessions, selected committee meetings, where many of the big issues confronting the legislature are debated, will also air. Each week’s broadcast schedule will be set by the Tennessee Senate and House on Thursday of the previous week. Viewers can track updates to the schedule right here, at WCTE.ORG

“The work of public television stations across this great state to bring our legislative proceedings into the living rooms of Tennesseans from Memphis to Mountain City is to be commended,” said Speaker Beth Harwell. “We appreciate their broadcast of state government, and their commitment to ensure the process is more transparent and more accessible to the public. Efforts such as this are the very foundation of principles on which this country was founded.”
