BLUEGRASS UNDERGROUND
Absolutely one of “alternative Nashville’s” biggest buzz bands, the Vespers feature sisters Callie and Phoebe Cryar and brothers Bruno and Taylor Jones. Their hard-to-pin-down sound leads to a fresh and dynamic mixture of folk, rock and Appalachian stomp, a place where banjos battle drums and fuzz-toned guitars shred mountain ballads, all held together by the Cryar sisters’ saintly/sinful harmonies. The Huffington Post’s Michael Bialas recently dubbed them “… four of a promising kind.”
Taped 333 feet below ground within the labyrinth of Tennessee’s Cumberland Caverns, this 12-part “musical adventure” series features the top established and emerging artists within the bluegrass, newgrass, gospel, roots and Americana genres. The artist line-up includes the Civil Wars, Jerry Douglas, Sarah Jarosz, Jim Lauderdale, the David Mayfield Parade, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Scott Miller, the Time Jumpers, the Vespers, Del McCoury, Vince Gill, and the Black Lillies.
