TTU TUBA ENSEMBLE: 45TH ANNIVERSARY
The Tennessee Tech University Tuba Ensemble celebrates their 45th anniversary with performances from the student ensemble as well as a group of eight ensemble alumni who have gone on to teach at other universities and play in several military bands. Founded in 1967 by R. Winston Morris, who still directs the group today, the ensemble has more than 20 student members. Over the years, the group has made 25 recordings, seven appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York City and two World's Fair performances. It has composed and arranged more music for the tuba than any other single entity. The ensemble has also been the subject of a nationally aired PBS documentary, Tuba U: Basso Profundo, and a book, The Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble and R. Winston Morris: A 40th Anniversary Retrospective.
