Cookeville, TN – WCTE Upper Cumberland PBS will showcase One on One with Becky Magura featuring Mr. Ray Stevens on Thursday, December 12 at 8:30 p.m. Stevens made an impact with original material he produced based on cultural trends of the day.
Stevens, a two-time Grammy Award winner, is an American country and pop singer-songwriter. Stevens grew up in rural Georgia in the town of Clarkdale. He signed to Capital Records at the early age of 18 years old. Back in the 1970s, Stevens became a producer and musician in Nashville which, at the time, only had a population of approximately ½ million people before Opryland USA and the Grand Ole Opry House had even opened its doors.
“It was a thrill to sit down with the legendary Ray Stevens at his CabaRay, a state-of-the-art Vegas style showroom. WCTE is honored to be the presenting station of Ray Stevens CabaRay which airs on PBS stations throughout the country,” said Becky Magura, WCTE’s President & CEO.
Stevens has had a remarkably long career in the entertainment industry. He has traveled the world performing to diverse audiences with hits which include “Everything is Beautiful” and “The Streak.” Stevens performs several shows a week in his plush 700-seat showroom which offers and dinner and show in addition with recording facilities.
