WCTE PBS is excited to announce the upcoming annual dinner event for this year. The WCTE celebration is scheduled to take place on April 23 at the Saltbox Inn, where we will honor the works of Dr. Henry Louis Gates and other PBS favorites. The evening will be filled with moving and captivating performances by talented local artists, bringing national PBS programming to our stage. The event will showcase the popular PBS series, “Finding Your Roots,” now in its 10th season, as well as recent documentaries such as “The Black Church,” “Gospel,” and “Harriet Tubman.”
Local talent Mrs. Regina Pullin and Mrs. Irene Dirkson along with cast members from the recent Cookeville Theatre Company’s production “I Am
My Ancestors’ Wildest Dream” will perform selections from the show. Dr. Carl Owens will acknowledge the impact PBS has had on his life from an early age, and we will be touched by the heartfelt testimony of a young viewer regarding the impact we are having on him
today.
In addition to dinner and fellowship, WCTE will be honoring individuals who have contributed to the success of the organization in various ways. Recognitions will include the WCTE Volunteer of the Year, Makers Award, WCTE Partner of the Year, and the Joe Albrecht Impact Award. To conclude the evening, guests will be treated to a performance by TTU’s Gospel Choir United Voices of Praise, a student-led gospel choir that is sure to uplift spirits.
This year's event promises to be exceptional, and we invite you to participate by purchasing tickets or a table online at wcte.org/annualdinner or by calling WCTE at 931-528-2222 ext. 312.
