Due to Novel Coronavirus outbreak (Covid-19), this event has been rescheduled for September 23rd, 2020 and will be conducted virtually.

Did you know that PBS Learning Media has tons of free curriculum and educational materials for teachers of every subject?

This free event will feature an Inventing Tomorrow ambassador who will provide a fifteen-minute screening of the documentary as well as a presentation on how to use the accompanying curricular materials, free to educators through PBSLearningMedia.org. In addition, there will be presentations from WCTE- Cookeville’s Education department and from local educators on how to take full advantage of the STEM educational resources available through PBS Learning Media.

Attendees of the Inventing Tomorrow (IT) professional development seminar will not only get hands-on training in how to use the free Inventing Tomorrow STEM curriculum for grades 7-12, the first 50 teachers to register will also receive one free DVD of the POV film Inventing Tomorrow, along with an educational screening license, and either six (6) Foldscopes (featured in the IT curriculum) OR one classroom set of Water Insights water-testing toolkits (created by a student in the film). These items will be mailed after completion of the event survey.

There will also be a presentation on how to use the PBS Learning Media site, and a short lesson walk-through from a local educator. Teachers who provide an email and sign-in at the event will also receive a certificate for two (2) hours of professional development via email following the event.

Inventing Tomorrow is a feature-length documentary that premiered on P.O.V. in July 2019 and is now also available on PBS Passport.
