RULES & EXPECTATIONS for Let's Dance

Let’s Dance – A Televised Dance Competition is a LIVE high-energy dance competition bringing together local talent, community leaders, and dance enthusiasts to support public broadcasting. If you have ever wanted to perform on live television, this is your chance! Each dancer/partners are picked for the competition, not all entries will be selected to dance in the competition. The selection process is conducted by a committee and will be based on a set criteria, such as the dancer's ability to help raise local funds within their community. We are not looking for professional dancers. We are looking for community members that want to have fun, love WCTE PBS and who are willing to dedicate themselves to making this event successful. 

All applicants must abide by the rules below. 

  1. Must be 21 or older to compete.
  2. All acts will be duets. Upon applying.
  3. This competition is for any kind of dancing. Tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, ballroom, etc. Get creative and have fun!
  4. All music and prop use must be submitted by October 1 for approval of usage.
  5. Music must be clean as it is a televised event. 
  6. All props must be under a 50 lbs limit so stage hands are able to lift.
  7. Maximum dance time 3.5 minutes. If teams go over time they will be deducted 25-points from the total score.
  8. No lifts above the head.
  9. No pyro/confetti/fire/political stances. Immediate disqualification.
  10. Tasteful clothing/costumes- this will be televised.
  11. All makeup and hair for competition day will be provided by Aspire Salon.
  12. Each dance partnership is encouraged to use the promotional materials supplied by WCTE to spread the word across your media platforms and share with friends and family. This effort not only promotes the event but also helps each dancer fundraise in advance for the Philanthropic Award, which will be presented the night of the competition.

 

By agreeing to participate in the WCTE Let’s Dance fundraiser, each contestant also agrees to allow their image to be used for fundraising purposes, including print, broadcast, social media, and web.

By agreeing to participate, you commit to attending the required sound check/run-through and acknowledge that WCTE PBS is not liable for any issues that may arise in connection with the Let’s Dance competition.
