RULES & EXPECTATIONS for Let's Dance

Let’s Dance – A Televised Dance Competition is a LIVE high-energy dance competition bringing together local talent, community leaders, and dance enthusiasts to support public broadcasting. If you have ever wanted to perform on live television, this is your chance! Each dancer/partners are picked for the competition, not all entries will be selected to dance in the competition. The selection process is conducted by a committee and will be based on a set criteria, such as the dancer's ability to help raise local funds within their community. We are not looking for professional dancers. We are looking for community members that want to have fun, love WCTE PBS and who are willing to dedicate themselves to making this event successful. 

All applicants must abide by the rules below. For clarification on any of the below, please reach out to letsdance2026@wcte.org 

  1. Must be 21 or older by the day of the competition to compete.
  2. All acts will be duets. Upon applying, if you do not have a partner, if you are selected WCTE PBS will pair you with someone. 
  3. This competition is for any kind of dancing. Tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, ballroom, etc. Get creative and have fun!
  4. All applications must be submitted by June 1 to be considered. All dancers will be chosen and announced by June 30. 
  5. All music and props used must be submitted by October 1 to letsdance2026@wcte.org for approval of usage.
  6. Music must be clean (explicit free) as it is a televised event. 
  7. All props must be under a 50 lbs limit so stage hands are able to lift.
  8. All dances must be between 1:30 seconds and 2 minutes. Points deducted for shorter/longer. 
  9. No lifts above the head.
  10. No pyro/confetti/fire/political stances. Immediate disqualification.
  11. Costumes need to be appropriate and tasteful. No nudity, see through costumes. If you have questions about your costume, please email us here. letsdance2026@wcte.org
  12. All dancers must supply their own costume. Makeup and hair will be provided day off the event by Aspire Salon. Please note this is category being judged!
  13. Each partnership is responsible for fundraising for WCTE PBS. The partners that raise the most money will win the category for most fundraised team! 
  14. Fundraising can begin on August 1, 2025 as soon as competitors are announced. 
  15. Dancers are required to find their own dance coach or choreographer from their community to help them prepare their performance.
