A trip to the Putnam County Fair to visit with the Master Gardeners in their beautiful display area. We'll hear about sustainable practices such as water conservation and the Master Gardeners’ mission to improve the lives of Tennesseans through horticulture education delivery by a dedicated and skilled volunteer network.
This episode includes a visit to the 93rd Annual Putnam County Fair as we explore the Back to Barnyard exhibit with Skip and Susan Peek. They will provide us a demonstration on how to make brooms, which is their family business. The Peek's brooms farm is Taletam Hollow in Kentucky, where they make brooms and brushes in all variety of colors and sizes with beautiful hand carved handles.
At the 93rd Annual Putnam County Fair, Dawson Davidson, a freshman at Tennessee Tech University in the Department of Agriculture, sits down with us to discuss sustainable practices raising chickens along with what it takes for one’s chicken to become an award winning chicken at your local county fair.
